Y10 Bude Residential 2012

Year 10 presents a whole host of new challenges to pupils. Some are excited to be moving forwards whilst others struggle to adapt to the increased expectations placed upon them. At Park we believe in developing well-rounded individuals and to help foster the positive attitude that allows pupils to succeed we offer opportunities such as our activity-filled residentials where pupils can learn how to approach new challenges positively both as individuals and as a team. At the superb Adventure International site in Bude pupils also get the chance to enjoy a host of different experiences away from home. See the Adventure International website for a taster.

The 2012 Bude Residential was once more extremely popular with pupils and over 180 Year 10s set off at 7am on the 4th of September for the trip down the coast. Despite a rather cold and damp first day the pupils were soon whizzing down hills on mountain boards, along the canal on canoes, in the waves surfing and body boarding, or on the climbing wall or high ropes course.

The pupils also faced the bracing challenge of a 7.30 am run or swim in the sea pool. The final part of the trip included a Fancy Dress Disco where once more the standard of costume was extremely high; Morph, the Ghostbusters, one half of Jedward and a very disturbing Keith Lemon were just some of those who made an appearance on the dance floor!

The Super Team award went to group N (Scott Wills, Owen Thompson, Stephen Dennis, Emily Cray, Ellen Napier, Emily Lobb, Lucy Gill, Eve Warburton, Zara Gabriel, Sophie Mills.).
Winners of the Super Star award for individual achievement were Ellen Napier, Georgia Sargeant, Aiden Wayborn and Chris Dunkin, while The Bottle award for overcoming personal fears was given to brave pupils Jasper Hansen, Chloe Medhurst, Eve Warburton and Greg Bryant. There is also a Wally award, given to pupils who have shown the most team-spirit and kept everyone’s spirits up. This year the recipients were Will Flynn, Rosie Place, Ross Palfreyman, and James Turnbull. Well done everyone!
