An interactive and inspiring evening was enjoyed by the Park Community School students, parents and staff at the latest “Inspire to Aspire” event with Simon Hall, BBC Home Affairs and Crime correspondent.

It was certainly obvious to all that Simon thoroughly enjoys his career in the media, as he explained in detail the many advantages of a career in broadcasting.  The audience was given information about qualifications required and various other useful tips, including trainee positions within the BBC, advice for CV’s and the importance of gaining work experience.

A short BBC film showed a typical News studio - you cannot imagine how many people with different roles are required to produce a News TV programme!  Various BBC staff described their different job roles and explained how they secured their positions.

The audience was given various interactive challenges and Simon captivated everyone with amusing and interesting news stories.  He also revealed his and others, “Secret Of Success “.

At the end of the evening Simon autographed his book for anyone who wanted to purchase his latest published detective novel.

The school is grateful to Simon for giving so generously of his time to their students and “Inspiring them to Aspire” to a career path that they may not have considered before.

The next “Inspire to Aspire” event on the 22nd January, 2014 will feature local author Berwick Coates who will be taking his audience through what is involved in writing a novel, outlining the highs and lows!
